Description
"A superbly rich and complex Pinot Gris from the Bendigo district, the engaging bouquet shows grilled peach, poached pear, honey and spice characters. It is sumptuous and beautifully weighed on the palate, and offers layers of delicious flavours and rich texture. The wine delivers rich fruit intensity together with seductive savoury undertones. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2016
"Dry pinot gris with very subtle apple, pear, spice, clove and anise flavours together with a more prominent influence of savoury, nutty yeast lees character. The wine shows good purity and a peppery texture" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Dec 2016
"Bright straw-yellow colour with a little depth, paler on the rim. The nose is elegant with a rounded and softly concentrated core of piquant white and yellow stonefruits along with floral and nutty notes, and hints of honeysuckle. The aromatics possess an underlying steely freshness and vitality. The nose with delicacy and poise. Dryish to taste and medium-full bodied, the palate is fresh and lively with a tight heart of white stonefruits lifted with florals, and entwined with savoury nutty and honeysuckle notes. The palate has elegance and tautness, the flavours showing style and restraint, underlined by soft textures and brisk, lacy acidity. The wine flows with energy and vibrancy, and the sweet fruitiness carries to a sustained finish of stonefruits, florals and honeysuckle. This is a lively and fresh, dryish Pinot Gris with stonefruit, floral and honeysuckle flavours and subtle nutty notes. Serve with Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese fare over the next 3-4 years. Fruit from the ‘Trig Hill’ vineyard, Bendigo, hand-picked, WBP and fermented partially by indigenous yeasts in stainless-steel and seasoned puncheons to 14.0% alc. and 6.4 g/L RS, the wine aged 6 months on lees. Certified BioGro organic" Raymond Chan, Oct 2016
Generous aromas of Central Otago apricots, gentle hay & roasted nuts; the wine has an intensely concentrated flavoursome & silky palate and a lovely linear acidity, complemented by a savoury spiciness. The wine’s elegance & structure are products of excellent fruit concentration, due to low cropping & the warmer season at the Trig Hill site in 2014.
