Description

  • French oak
  • Stone fruit
  • Lemon meringue
  • Full-bodied

"It’s elegantly expressed on the nose with ripe stone fruit, citrus peel, rockmelon and oatmeal nuances, leading to a fruit-expressive palate delivering smooth texture backed by bright acidity. Attractively expressed with a lingering, supple finish. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2024

Experience the fresh flavours of Marlborough with this 2023 Chardonnay, expect bright citrus aromatics interlaced with nectarine and melon. The palate is full and round with luscious stone fruit flavours and lemon meringue on the tongue. Easy drinking from release, this wine will continue to gain complexity over the next four years.

Named after an extraordinary ship that resides on the Picton foreshore in the picturesque Marlborough Sounds. Built in Bengal 1853, visiting this historic East Indianman ship is a breathtaking experience, and our 2023 Chardonnay is no different.

This full-bodied Chardonnay has been crafted using select parcels from the Marlborough region, chosen for its exceptional quality and fruit forward characteristics. Harvested in mid-March, the grapes for this wine were quickly pressed from their skins and fermented in stainless-steel tanks. The wine underwent a second malolactic fermentation bestowing complexity and creamy notes to the wine before aging in French oak for nine months. Our winemakers aimed to showcase the best of Marlborough when choosing their final blend before preparing the wine for bottling.
