Description

  • Ripe red fruit
  • Subtle spice
  • Vanilla notes
  • Silky mouthfeel

Deep red cherry color in the glass with a bouquet of ripe red fruits with hints of leather and mild spices. Complex mineral characters show on the palate. The style of Lirac is totally unique with its full body & fresh aromas. It is very elegant, silky with attractive tannins with a long finish on vanilla notes.

The PDO Lirac is located 15 kilometres north-west of Avignon, on the right side of the Rhône, in the Gard department. The 715 hectares in production cover 4 municipalities, including Roquemaure, the birthplace of Côtes du Rhône, Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres and Saint-Géniès-de-Comolas, on the right side of the Rhône. Red terraces of rolled pebbles, loess soils, sandy skeletal soils.

Grape Varieties: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault.

Total de-stemming, crushing, cold pre-fermentation maceration (12°C) for 4 days on Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault - temperature control at 27/28°C during maceration - long vatting period of 25 days for Grenache and 35 days for Syrah and Mourvèdre - devatting on tasting when the tannins have acquired maximum silkiness. Extractions adapted to each vat with pumping over, racking over or punching down depending on the quality of the harvest and the grape variety.
