Mount Riley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2018
Mount Riley Marlborough Pinot Noir 2018
Description
This Pinot Noir displays mid-red with garnet and ruby hues in the glass. Aromas of ripe cherry and plum characters are supported by hints of savoury spice and dried herb. The palate is approachable with soft tannins and intense fruit flavour, the moutfeel has a silky texture and great length. Drinking well now and up to 2022.
2018 was a year in which the Viticulture team earned their keep! They accumulated a lot of moisture in traditionally their driest months of the year – January, February and March. As a result the vines continued to produce lots of leaves and the vineyard team spent a great deal of time ensuring the fruit had the correct levels of sun exposure – lots of trimming and leaf plucking! Their 2018 Pinot Noir is a blend sourced from four of their Marlborough vineyards situated in the Southern Valley’s sub-region. Diversity of clone allowed them to make a complex and complete wine with vibrant, pure fruit character and depth of flavour. Grapes were cold soaked, fermented in small parcels and aged for nine months in French oak barriques.
Food Pairing: Great as an aperitif or with savoury tomato or mushroom based dishes, salmon, red meat or pasta.
