Description

This mystery Pinot Gris is bright, pale straw colour in the glass.  The bouquet is pronounced with quince, citrus flower, lemon, honey, almond and spice notes. The palate is clean, polished, weighty, creamy and rich. Sweetness from the ripe fruit makes initial impact – quite succulent, but then evens out, leading to an overall dry, yet mouth-coating impression with a balanced acidity. Dried apricot, quince and nougat flavours. Beautifully balanced, concentrated and with an exceptionally long finish.

Grown in fabulous alluvial gravel over a wind borne loess in a beautiful, small family-owned vineyard. The 2016 vintage in Marlborough allowed for an early harvest leading to concentrated flavours and grapes in perfect condition. After harvest the these grapes received gentle pressing, the juice was fermented in stainless steel with a select yeast strain, plus a portion of wild ferment in tank and in old French barriques. Each component provided different flavours and textures to the final blend. This wine is ready to drink, but will also reward the patient with cellaring potential up to 4 years.

Food pairing: pates and terrines, creamy dishes, but also spicy, Asian-inspired foods. Caramelised scallops, poached fish, pork with apple sauce and much more.

Very nice Pinot Gris. Deep golden colour and complex flavour structure, it almost feels like drinking a Chardonnay, but with the freshness and aromas of a good Pinot Gris. A must buy for anyone who likes a "full bodied" P.Gris - amazing with food too.

This Pinot Gris is wonderfully full of flavour without being sweet and is very sophisticated. I will buy more!

G
Quite strong citrus notes (for a pinot gris) when first poured, but opened up in the glass. I'll be interested to see how it develops with another year in the bottle

I bought this one based on others review that it was more of a dry style, however I find this too sweet.
