2 x Chateau De Ribebon, Bordeaux Superieur 2014 (Bordeaux)

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Gilbert & Gaillard 2016

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Concours Général Paris 2016

AWARDED 90/100 POINTS: James Suckling

Bordeaux produced lovely, fruit forward wines in 2014. Just take this velvety, plum rich claret from the team at Chateau de Ribebon. Chief winemaker there is Alain Aubert, a Bordelais with a brilliant network of contacts and the owner of over 8 chateau. The Chateau de Ribebon 2014 has luscious, smooth, ripe redcurrant flavours with a creamy roundness. Delicious, easy, ripe fruit, it's a versatile claret.

Alc 13% - Seal Cork

2 x Cave De Roquebrun Chemin des Olivettes (Languedoc)

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: National Vinalies 2017

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: IWC Blaye-Bourg 2016

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Feminalise 2017

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Languedoc-Roussillon Co-operative 2016

A remarkable, rich and powerful red from the Languedoc, showcasing the old-vine treasures that survive in the region's arid soils. Winemaker is Cave De Roquebrun’s Alain Rogier, 2015 the IWC Winemaker of the Year, who adores all aspects of the region's wines. Dense and complex with velvety blackberry spice. A wine brimming with character.

Alc  14% - Seal: Screw Cap

2 x Bastide Miraflor Vielles Vignes 2014

AWARDED 92/100 POINTS: Robert Parker's - The Wine Advocate

A steal from Lafage is the 2014 Bastide Miraflors, which is a Cotes du Roussillon, and a blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache, with the Grenache aged in concrete tanks and the Syrah in 500-liter demi-muids. Lafage makes more expensive wines than this, but certainly excels with his value lineup. He has really hit a home run with this 10,000-case cuvée. It is deep, ruby/plum/purple, with fresh notes of blackcurrants, plums, Provençal herbs as well as licorice. Deep, medium to full-bodied, with amazing fruit, the purity, authenticity and Mediterranean upbringing of this wine are obvious. Quite deep, round and succulent, this wine should drink well for another several years. This is one to buy by the case.
