Description

"How cute and storybookish is this label? Shouldn't matter I know, but I was seduced straight away. Hawke's Bay Pinot Gris has personality of its own, so expect delicate winter pear aromas and juicy, nectarine and- ginger-laced tension in the mouth. Taut and tightrope-like on the finish, it's a groovy gris for sure" Yvonne Lorkin

"This is charming and vibrant, displaying elegantly lifted aromas of white stone fruit, poached pear, lemon pith and floral on the nose with a hint of spice complexity. The palate is juicy and finely textured, and displays pristine fruit flavours with whispering sweetness, which is brilliantly framed by refreshing acidity." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit.

"Bright pale straw-yellow colour with slight green suggestions, very light on the rim.  This has a tight, fresh and delicate nose with elegantly penetrating aromas of white stonefruits, pears and white florals.  This is clean with a taut core that reveals a little nutty and mineral detail, along with clarity and purity with aeration.  Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a deep core, with good presence, but restrained flavours of white stonefruits entwined with florals, pears and a little honeysuckle.  The palate core is softly concentrated with a fine, dry phenolic line and some underlying richness and power that carries the wine to a lingering, luscious finish of honeysuckle.  This is an elegantly concentrated dry Pinot Gris with tight stonefruit, pear and floral notes, and a fine-textured palate with some richness and power.  Match with Asian cuisine over the next 3 years.  Fruit from Taradale and Haumoana, tank fermented to 12.5% alc. and 6 g/L RS, the wine aged on lees undergoing batonnage." Raymond Chan. May 2017

Ripe and nicely perfumed, this wine shows beautiful aromas of pear and honeysuckle with a touch of ginger. The palate is richly textured with a balanced sweetness, crisp acidity and a pleasant long finish.

After gently pressing, the juice was cool settled and later the clear juice racked to tank for a cool fermentation. All of the above allowed for preserved fruit purity and enhanced aromatics. Post ferment, the wine was left on yeast lees and stirred to add texture and mouthfeel. It was then blended and prepared for bottling

Don’t be fooled by his look, Mister is a modern Hawke’s Bay love story. The love of the grape, the land, the adventure and the road that led you there. Slightly left of centre, Mister is as clever as it is curious, as bold as it is beautiful, dapper in dress-sense only and modern to the core. So, banish the kerchief to your back pocket and settle in. Understated, never. Magnificent, always.
