Sacred Hill Halo Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015

Sacred Hill Halo Marlborough Pinot Noir 2015

$21.99p/Btl

Description

Dark plum colour. Lifted aroma of sweet dried herbs, vanilla, dark cherry and Christmas cake complexity. The palate is rich and very supple, with ripe fruitcake richness and vanilla freshness.

Hand-picked Pinot from the steep slopes of the Omaka Valley was combined with fruit from the Waihopai alluvial soils. This was cold soaked to extract flavour, then fermented with frequent hand punch-downs. The finished wine was aged with French oak for about 10 months.

Another classic cool climate growing season was seen in Marlborough leading into the 2015 harvest. A warmer than usual winter saw us have an early spring. The spring was followed by a cooler start to summer – the cooler conditions at flowering gave us less berries and smaller bunches. The second half of summer exhibited record temperatures and superb ripening conditions. Early harvesting saw us capture flavours in both varieties at their best expression, with some great intensity seen in the wines that were made.
