Description

  • French oak
  • Ripe stone fruit
  • Roasted almond
  • Elegant & composed

"Gracefully styled and enticing, the wine shows ripe stone fruit, roasted almond, flint, nougat and oatmeal nuances on the nose, leading to an impressively concentrated palate offering awesome weight and persistency. Supremely elegant and powerful at the same time, it’s brilliantly structured by perfectly pitched acidity, finishing wonderfully long and gratifying. At its best: 2024 to 2034" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2023

"A striking bouquet filled with aromas of toasty spices and gun-flint, layers of ripe yellow stone fruits and grapefruit and a fine stony mineral quality. Complex, youthful and enticing. There’s a richness and completeness as the wine touches the palate, roasted nut and stone fruit flavours, citrus and barrel spices layer together to present and delicious expression without losing the essence of Chardonnay. Well made with development time as well as immediate drinking if desired. Best drinking from mid to late 2024 through 2029+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jun 2023

"Bright, even, pale yellow. The nose is softly full with integrated, youthful aromas of peach, nectarine, citrus, flint, almond and clarified butter. Medium-bodied, aromas of lemon and grapefruit lead the palate, followed by peach, flint and almond, lingering on a creamy mouthfeel and a hint of butter. The fruit shows purity and a lean drive, featuring grapefruit and mineral texture. Softened, lively acidity persists in a focused, harmonious finish. This Chardonnay is elegant and composed, reflecting a cooler vintage with a leaner palate and a focused drive" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, May 2023

Bright lemon in colour, the bouquet offers aromas of toasted almonds, ripe citrus, and a touch of sea spray. On the palate the wine is bright and focused, opening up to layers of stone fruit and lemon curd, over toasted oak and vanilla bean. The artisan winemaking approach has resulted in a classic and elegantly textured chardonnay, with beautiful balance, and a long, pure finish. One of our best vintages.

Clos des Pierres is French for place of stones and gives reference to The Spring Vineyard which has extremely stony soils.

A balanced growing season led to healthy vines and perfect ripening conditions. A cool February resulted in this years wines having expressive aromatics, great energy, and fresh lively acidity with a tight structure on the palate.

Grapes were lightly pressed and the juice naturally fermented. The wine was then aged for 8 months in a mixture of French oak barriques and cuves. Full malolactic fermentation occurred.
