Description

  • Integrated oak
  • Toasted almonds
  • Grilled peaches & melon
  • Flinty texture

"Bold and expressive bouquet with aromas of roasted nut and baked peach, vanilla and whipped cream, fresh and baked apple, toasty barrel spices and scents of new barrel. On the palate - full bodied, toasty, nutty, creamy and rich in flavours of oak and vanilla, peaches, apples and grapefruit peel. There’s plenty of acidity and fine tannin textures to frame the theme and core of wine very nicely" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2021

An elegant and powerful single vineyard Chardonnay that oozes class. Toasted almonds, grilled peaches and a subtle flinty reduction. Sourced from the Riverview vineyard on the banks of the Ngaruroro river this site has imparted purity and a flinty texture from the stony soils. A long saline finish, full of pineapple and ripe melon, with beautifully integrated oak. Delicious.

The grapes for this wine were grown in their Riverview vineyard in the Hawke’s Bay.

The fruit was pressed into stainless steel tanks and after a short settling period the juice was run off to barrel for fermentation. Most of the barrels were allowed to undergo wild fermentation. Following fermentation the wine was inoculated for Malolactic fermentation. After approximately a year, in a variety of oak barrels, the wine was transferred to their Katikati winery for finishing. The wine was bottled in March 2020.

Food Pairing: Superb with chicken and pasta dishes.
