Description

  • French oak
  • 91% Mendoza clone
  • Peach & lemon
  • Concentrated

Peach, cashew and lemon with pastry/biscuit notes. Touch of oak. Fresh and refined. Complex and evolving - initially peach and cashew on entry, followed by apple, melon and oaty notes. Mineral and citrus can also be found. Nicely concentrated and elegant.

Grown in their flagship Irongate Vineyard in the Gimblett Gravels appellation of Hawke's Bay. Vines are pre-selected early in the season at pruning, and crop levels are closely monitored. The result is a limited release wine, that is built to last - with spectacular varietal and regional characters.

91% Mendoza clone and 9% Clone 15. 30% of the grapes were whole bunch pressed and the rest destemmed. Fermentation was completed in 20% new French oak with 43% inocluated with a yeast isolate and 57% wild ferment. Malolactic fermentation occured soon after and the wine matured for 9 months on lees with periodic stirring.

Food Pairing: Ideal for with rich seafood and white meast dishes. Try it with char-grilled squid, and lemon butter sauce or barbecued chicken.
