Description

  • French oak
  • Wild strawberries
  • Crème de cassis
  • Balanced acidity

"This is gorgeously fruited and richly expressed on the nose showing crème de cassis, vanillin oak, smoked game and tobacco aromas, leading to a wonderfully concentrated palate exhibiting outstanding depth and power. It's classically structured by chalky tannins, finishing sturdy and persistent. At its best: now to 2028" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2021

Deep red appearance with light purple reflections. Fresh and soft yet complex including wild strawberries and spices. Very precise and elegant. Long and rich, leaving a beautiful acid balance.

Bekaa Valley has a long-standing history of wine making going back more than 6,000 years. It is still the heartland of modern Lebanese wine. Almost 90 percent of Lebanon's wine is made here. The original Bekaa Valley vineyards were planted with Cinsault, which was subsequently joined by other French vine varieties. Most of these remain in Lebanon vinicultural makeup today: red Carignan, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and white Ugni Blanc, Clairette and Chardonnay. The long, narrow valley is a high-altitude (1000m) oasis of agriculture and viticulture that runs north-south for around 65km between the Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon mountains. These mountains provide protection from the deserts to the east and the maritime rains to the west. Unfortunately, the political situation in Lebanon has made wine production extremely difficult at times with ongoing internal strife and terrorist attacks. Regularly wineries have lost most of their harvest due to the inability to hire workers during the bombing periods. The region has a rich wine history and makes wondrous wines that we will continue to support and enjoy into the future.
