Description

  • French oak
  • Dark cherry & plum
  • Hazelnut & vanilla
  • Firm tannins

"A stunning rendition showing perfumed aromas of dark cherry, floral, olive and hazelnut with nuances of warm spice and mushroom. The impressively concentrated palate displays outstanding weight and depth, while remaining elegant and refined with a seamless flow and textured mouthfeel. Immensely complex and gratifying. At its best: now to 2031" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

"Complex, youthful, tense and varietal. Aromas of dark berries and toasty barrel, clove and black currant, some fine savoury moments and hard clay earthy qualities. On the palate - firm, dry, complex, youthful then fruity with varietal flavours of dark berries then attributes suggested by the bouquet. Firm tannins with support from acidity require some cellar time to relax and integrate. Well made and needing cellar time with best drinking from 2023 through 2030" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

"Focused aromas of cranberry, raspberry and red plum. Refined tannins, supporting the silky fruit with a lovely lift of acidity" Decanter World Wine Awards 2022

"Moderately concentrated Pinot Noir with plum, dark berry, sweet cherry, vanilla and pronounced spicy oak flavours. The oak is a little dominant at this stage, although bottle age might correct the imbalance" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review

"Our Blairpatrick Vineyard is the smallest of the sites we manage. A warm, dry-grown vineyard site that is one of the first to be harvested each year. This vineayrd produces fruit with immense concentration and flavour to create a wine that is a great expression of a sophisticated Pinot Noir with incredible depth of aromas from both the black fruits to the dark, earthy fruits as well as the beautiful savoury elements we love from Pinot. It is a low-yielding vineyard that shows the most promise for making world-class Pinot Noir" Eddie McDougall, Winemaker

Dark red, purple hue. Dark brooding nose of plum and cherry, smoky stalk tannins and toasty oak. The palate is opulent with good weight and texture. Fruit is balanced by chalky tannins and nice acidity.

Blairpatrick is one of our unique vineyard sites that we manage due to the selection of Pinot Noir we have planted across the block. It has a bountiful palate of both Pommard and Dijon clones. Grapes are hand harvested and brought into the cellar to undergo semi-carbonic maceration in 2-tonne open top vats to allow ambient (natural) yeast to start fermentaion. This approach allows for better integration of aromas, flavours and tannins with gentle, manual punch downs 3 times a day to get the desired extraction we are looking for. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is pressed off it’s skins into barrel for malolactic conversion and maturation for 15 months. 100% French oak barriques are used of which 25% is new oak.
