2 x Nanny Goat Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir 2021

Awarded 93/100 Points & 4 Stars: Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jan 2023

"From the Queensberry sub-region, approximately half-way between Cromwell and Wanaka. This moderately cool environment has created a supple wine with a strong floral influence and vibrant acidity" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jan 2023

Immediately appealing on the nose with lifted wild berry and floral aromatics, gradually fading to reveal a complex array of ripe cherry & plum fruits, sweet spices, cola, garrigue, and fennel. Sweet red, black and blue berry fruits abound on the palate, with fleeting nuances of red currant, cola, cinnamon, thyme, crushed coriander seed and star anise adding layers of intrigue. Seamlessly integrated oak and powder fine tannins combine with a fine bead of acidity to give a fresh, pleasingly long finish.

Food Pairing: Spaghetti alla Puttanesca.

Alc: 13.5%

Awarded 94/100 Points & 4 Stars: Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jul 2022
Awarded 93/100 Points: Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2022

"Fragrant, floral aroma with the scent of red rose leads to a more fruit-forward palate with dark cherry/berry characters with subtle fresh herb flavours. A backbone of fine, ripe tannins gives energy and suggests cellaring potential" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jul 2022

"An enticing mineral laden boquet with scents of chalky clay soils then a core of light red fruits and barrel spices then a soft smoky soil quality. Undeniably complex with a pinosity and charm. Equally enticing on the palate with texture then flavour, an abundance of fine tannins from needle point to moderate then acidity and fruit flavours delivering a a core of red fruits, medium+ acidity and length developing complex finsih. Great drinking from mid to late 2023 through 2030+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2022

Typical of Queensberry Pinot Noir, the nose is dark and brooding yet beautifully perfumed. Blueberry and boysenberry notes are layered amongst florals suggestive of rose petal and violets. Toasted sweet baking spices are interwoven with dried herbs, black Doris plum and an intriguing whole bunch derived herbaceous lift. The palate is taut and powerful with powdery fine tannins up front lending a sinewy elegance. A fine streak of acidity offers a lively backdrop to the abundant berry fruits, presenting a wine that is both powerful and dense yet beautifully light on its feet.

Food Pairing: Rack of lamb with thyme and caper salsa verde.

Alc: 14%

"Attractive, fruit-focused pinot noir with floral, violet, dark cherry, berry and spicy oak flavours. A deliciously accessible wine, with a supple core of juicy fruit flavours balanced by fine, sweet tannins. Very appealing" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jan 2022

"Focused, concentrated, varietal and fruity with aromas and flavours dried raspberry and dark cherry, toasty barrel spices, a touch of bacon and smoke. Ripe, firm youthful tannins and acid line to match, chalk and velvet mouthfeel, youthful, vibrant and lengthy. Best drinking from mid to late 2022 through 2028+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Sep 2021
