  • Ripe black cherry
  • Charred wood
  • Chalky tannins

"Delicately aromatic Pinot Noir with floral/violet, cassis, dark cherry, anise/spice, thyme, and nutty oak flavours. Supple, medium-bodied pinot that is very approachable now but should develop well with a little bottle age" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jul 2022

"The 2021 vintage of Akarua Pinot Noir is showing the classic savoury notes of a Bannockburn Pinot Noir. The warmer season allowed the growth of plump, ripe fruit, to give the wine a sought-after balance of fruitiness and savouriness. It is dark and textured; a cellar-worthy expression of our Akarua Pinot Noir, showcasing the vintage" Winemaker

Deep Ruby. Nose of ripe raspberries, blackcurrant and struck flint. The pallet derives of black plum and ripened black cherry with notes of wet leaves, charred wood and smoky mushroom. Chalky tannin accompanied by lively minerality lengthens the wines savoury characteristics throughout the finish. Recommended Cellaring 2032+.

Following a winter with low rainfall, it was a dry start to the season. Heavy rains on January first (100ml) were a great relief and boosted fruit set and berry weight. Warm settled weather through late Feb and early March continued through harvest, and with little threat from frosts or stoppages from rain, ensured the fruit arrived evenly at the winery in excellent condition.
