Description

"The wine shows lovely fragrant aromas of dark cherry, mixed spice, game, dark mushroom and almond on the nose, leading to a succulent palate that is beautifully rounded and silky. The wine offers delightful berry flavours backed by seductive savoury nuances, finishing velvety and lingering. Lovely harmony and balance. At its best: now to 2021" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2018

"Bright, moderately concentrated pinot noir with ripe plum, dark cherry, violet, crushed herb and spicy oak flavours. Good purity and energy, with a satisfyingly lengthy finish" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jun 2019

Ruby red colour in the glass. An elegant Pinot Noir displaying dark cherry, berry fruit and savoury characters. It is a concentrated wine exhibiting well integrated fine tannins, a rich palate and has a wonderful persistence of flavour.

This wine is from grapes grown on Brightwaters sustainably certified Home vineyard as well as their vineyard in Ranzau Road, Hope. The vines were carefully shoot thinned and leaf plucked to give the berries optimum exposure to the sun. Slow to ripen bunches were removed by hand thus ensuring the grapes were perfectly ripe at the time of picking.

In the winery the grapes were carefully taken off their stems and left cold to soak for a period before fermentation. A warm ferment on the skins with careful cap plunging by hand enabled winemakers to extract optimum varietal colour and flavour.

The wine was then aged in french oak barriques for eleven months prior to bottling. This allowed the tannins and oak to integrate fully with the ripe fruit flavours, creating this elegant and vibrant Pinot Noir.
