Description

  • Dry style
  • Rock melon
  • Lychee & lemongrass
  • Mouth-watering finish

"Intensely aromatic and enticing with passionfruit, feijoa, Gala apple and lemon/lime zest aromas on the nose. The powerfully expressed palate offers terrific fruit purity and persistency together with juicy fruit flavours and vibrant acidity, finishing gorgeously long and delicious" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2021

"Bright, pale yellow, even colour throughout. The nose is full and intense, packed with aromas of lychee, cassis and lime, overlying fresh-cut grass, currant leaf and white pepper. Medium-light bodied, vibrant aromas of lychee, cassis and lime, unfolds white pepper and currant leaf. The acidity is mouth-watering, flows with good energy. Herbaceous character lingers and is alluring; lends a clean and thirst-quenching finish. Match with lemongrass fish and steamed clams in saffron butter broth over the next 2-3 years" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, Aug 2021

A riot of ripe citrus and tropical fruit aromas. Loaded with juicy rock melon, lychee, vibrant stone fruits and lemongrass, the mouth-watering finish on this one deserves some serious savouring.

Vintage 2021 was over before they knew it. Frost events, poor flowering and drought across the growing season meant a smaller crop and a short harvest. But it also meant very little disease pressure, resulting in beautiful, clean fruit and smaller bunches with more intense flavours. Due to COVID travel restrictions still affecting the world, they had seasonal vintage winery staff from 2020 who stayed with them throughout the year. Their experience and expertise was invaluable in vintage 2021, as they brought in many enthusiastic first-timers to assist them with our harvest. As usual, it was a big team effort and they’re excited about the quality and intensity of flavour in their 2021 wines.

Overlooking the ocean in dry and windswept Blind River, they grow our grapes in one of the harshest environments in Marlborough. Their grapes enjoy the region’s long sunshine hours, while the ocean breeze keeps things cooler and drier. The best parcels of grapes from our family-owned vineyard were harvested, before being gently pressed and fermented using a variety of yeast strains, in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the individual wines were tasted, then the top parcels from our Blind River vineyard are blended into the Summerhouse Sauvignon Blanc.
