Predominantly sourced from the iconic Seddon Vineyard and its neighbouring Higgins Rd Vineyard, this Pinot Gris is a rich, textural, opulent wine with a creamy palate from spending extended time ageing on yeast lees. The exotic tropical fruit flavours are framed by a soft, yet balanced acidity and unctuous texture.
90% of the fruit is grown in the cooler, windier Awatere Valley, promoting slower ripening in the autumn weather which helps concentrate Pinot Gris flavours and retain natural acidities. 50% was harvested from the Seddon Vineyard plus 28% from Higgins Rd vineyard both on the southern side of the Awatere River. A further 12% from the Awatere Rossmore Vineyard with the final 10% from the central Wairau Valley Belmonte Vineyard.
A mixture of seasoned barriques and stainless steel vessels with specially selected textural yeast. After fermentation stopped naturally with some residual sweetness, the resulting wines were left on their yeast lees for 5 months to build palate weight and creamy textures in the wine.
