"Youthful, charming and instantly appealing, the wine shows nectarine, green pear, citrus peel and rich floral aromas on the nose. It's juicy and fleshy with lovely fruit purity and rounded mouthfeel, finishing lingering and very tasty. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2021

The palate shows a wonderful balance between fruit sweetness and acidity, with a lingering and refreshing finish. This Pinot Gris is abundant with pear drop, leading to flavours of ripe yellow apple and stone fruit.

They were incredibly lucky to be able to continue to create these wines during the global pandemic crisis. For this reason, their 2020 wines carry some very unique memories. The 2020 growing season was very dry, which meant disease pressure was low and some timely light rains kept just enough water flowing in their rivers. They had a classic Marlborough autumn with warm days and cool nights, which created this season’s wines with their signature fresh natural acidity and intense fruit flavours. The resulting Pinot Gris is focused, with lifted aromatics and a beautiful concentrated mouthfeel.

Selected parcels of Pinot Gris were individually harvested, de-stemmed and then gently pressed. The juice was cold settled for 48 hours then racked prior to a long cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to capture and enhance the fruit flavours. Following fermentation the wine was blended, stabilised, and then filtered prior to bottling.

It’s the little things in life that count and it’s the littlest sheep that help make Babydoll wines. Their sustainable collection of wines are pure and intense with plenty of character, just like the Babydoll sheep they named them after. These tiny sheep keep their vineyards tidy year round because they’re too small to reach the grapes. Using one of nature’s mowers means their wines are better for the environment and taste better too. Celebrate life’s little moments with Babydoll wines.

By Winemaker Natalie Christensen this wine is suitable for vegetarians, vegans and a gluten free diet. Enjoy now, or cellar up to 2 years.

Food Match: Ideal with Asian food, chicken or light pasta dishes.
