"Gorgeously fruited and beautifully aromatic, the bouquet shows ripe apricot, baked pear, lemon peel and almond characters with subtle spicy complexity. It is succulent and wonderfully weighted on the palate, delivering lovely fruit richness and silky mouthfeel backed by bright acidity, finishing long and very tasty. Tangy and fresh with ripe stone fruit and pear drop aromas on the nose that combine with a focused mineral acidity. Well-balanced with a dry finish.
Grapes were de-stemmed, softly pressed and then fermented in stainless steel tanks at a temperature of 15-18°C with a selected yeast to enhance the varietal Pinot Grigio flavours. The wine was then aged for 6 months on its lees to add structure and complexity.
Coco di Mama is the lovechild of Tamra Kelly-Washington; one of New Zealand's most gifted winemakers. She has spent over 6 years working full-time as a winemaker in Sicily - so knows the region like the back of her hand. This wine is a real authentic example of the variety. Farmed organically on gentle slopes in the southern western side of the Island, famous for the ‘terra rossa’ or red dirt, this is truly a special wine with huge drinkability and appeal.
