Description

  • French oak
  • Rockmelon
  • Fresh apply
  • Refined finish

"This is one of the region’s most sophisticated, subtle and satisfying Sauvignons. It’s also one of the most important, given its wide spread international distribution and certified Biogro status. The wine (which includes 5 to 9 per cent Sémillon) is mostly fermented in tanks with indigenous yeasts, but 15 to 20 per cent is fermented and lees-aged in seasoned French oak casks. The impressive 2018 vintage was hand-picked in the central Wairau Valley and Omaka Valley. Bright, light lemon/green, it is ripely scented , mouthfilling and lively, with tropical-fruit flavours, showing excellent intensity and vigour, and a dry, long finish. Drink now to 2022" Michael Cooper, NZ Wines Buyers Guide, 2021

"It is beautifully lifted and inviting on the nose showing fresh apple, lime peel, rockmelon and subtle oatmeal characters. The palate delivers juicy fruit intensity together with fine texture and firm acidity, finishing long and refined. A restrained rendition offering complexity and savoury nuances. At its best: now to 2021" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2019

A classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc displaying a vibrant nose with aromas of tropical fruit, herbaceous notes and a hint of citrus. Time on the lees adds a textural quality to the palate, with subtle notes of lemon blossom and passionfruit. The finish is refreshing, crisp and dry.

2018 will be remembered as being rather unusual for Marlborough, with a run of wet conditions following a period of warm weather. Fortunately Momo's vineyards all fared well, with low yields and careful management ensuring a large proportion was harvested by the end of March. Above all, this vintage will be remembered for its fast and furious nature – blink and you nearly missedit! However, the resulting wines are showing a great deal of poise, elegance and subtlety. We are beyond excited to nurture them in to the bottle and bring them to market.

Premdominatly from the clay-rich hillside of Raupo Creek vineyard, which as a gentle north-west facing aspect, settled in the centre of the Omaka Valley. The other proportion is drawn from the Noa vineyard at the western end of the Wairau Valley.

Certified organic grapes were hand-picked and whole pressed before being fermentation took place to retain the freshness and fruit quality of the wine. After remaining in a stainless steel tank on lees for two months, to buid texture into the wine, the parcel was stabilised and filteres prior to bottling.
