"Beautifully fruited and immediately appealing, the bouquet shows ripe stone fruit, fig, orange peel and lemon sorbet notes, leading to a succulent palate that is elegant and flavoursome at the same time. The wine offers youthful fruit flavours within a delicate frame, finishing long and refreshing." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2017

This 2017 Pinot Grigio is light straw in colour with a very pale green hue. The lifted aroma’s are characterised by citrus, crisp green pear and a touch of spice. This is a mouth-filling wine with the palate displaying typical pear, white stone fruit and very subtle garden herb and brown spice. The freshness of the acidity drives a very long finish and ensures it finishes crisp and fresh.

Take it to the Grave was created by Nicholas Crampton and winemaker Corey Ryan as a range of contemporary wines that explore the greatest challenges and rewards in winemaking. This starts with a Pinot Grigio from the Alpine region of Tumbarumba. The ultra-cool climate is truly winemaking on the edge but results in truly elegant wines with beautiful freshness.

Tumbarumba experienced more than usual rain throughout Autumn and early Winter leading into the growing period. Good news for the vines ensuring there was little stress through out Spring. The harvest saw warm days delay the vintage season only minimally with all in all a very nice crop delivered in very good shape. We saw good flavour development and natural acidity was retained. This is a very good year for our Tumbarumba Pinot Grigio.

Sourced from a single Tumbarumba vineyard high in the foothills of the Australian Alps at 750m altitude. Hand harvested in the early morning to retain natural acidity. Whole bunched pressed, aiming to limit skin contact and using only free run and first press juice. Fermented in stainless steel with temperature control before maturation on lees for six months to build texture and complexity.

Food Pairing: This will partner very well with fresh seafood, chicken and almost any salad.
