Critic James Suckling described Bordeaux's 2016 vintage as "exceptional", and with all its luscious, velvety fruit, this Gold winner is outstanding value.
Chateau Les Sablonnets Cuvée Clélian offers a bright ruby colour with a red tints in the glass, delivering a fruity bouquet with a touch of vanilla aroma. It is a smooth full-bodied and well balanced wine with a supple and delicate character. A medium full bodied red Bordeaux with a good balance between ripe plummy fruit and berry flavours, with plenty of concentration and tannins that are fine-grained, smooth and supple. This is great quaffing claret!

2 x Calmel & Joseph Côtes Du Roussillon-Villages 2015 (Roussillon)

Awarded 93/100 Points: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2018

Awarded 16+/20 Points: Jancis Robinson, Master of Wine

"Calmel & Joseph continue to produce reasonably priced, well-made wines from throughout the Languedoc" RobertParker.com

"Baked plums. Deep, tarry, mulberry and roasted walnuts. Swarthy, dry tannins, spicier too, than on the other Les Terroirs wines. Needs more time to come around. Fantastic freshness though." Jancis Robinson, Master of Wine

"Magnificently fruited and expressed, the gorgeous bouquet shows blackberry, dried cherry, smoked game, tobacco and roasted nut characters, leading to a concentrated palate that dense and delectable. The wine offers power and opulence, firmly structured by fine, chalky tannins. Needs a seriously rich meat dish. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2018

Awarded 93/100 Points: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2018

"It is packed with dark and red berry flavours together with hints of floral and white pepper. The palate is concentrated, silky and flowing, and shows bright fruit intensity and smooth texture, finishing long and satisfying. At its best: now to 2021" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2018

Domaine de la Baume in the Languedoc-Roussillon region is situated in Servian, between Béziers and the medieval town of Pézenas, at the centre of the world’s largest wine-growing area. In this haven of peace and quiet, one road leads to the magnificent wrought-iron gate adorned with a J and a P, in honour of Jean Prat. Domaine de la Baume is an estate of some 176 hectares, planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and of course, Chardonnay.

Food Pairing: Pairs fabulously with with rustic French fare such as roasted red meat dishes or mature cheese.
