Description

These wines come from a land full of history of over 2000 years of winemaking. Thanks to this, this region is home to a diversity of extraordinary wines. It is the patchwork of wine-growing areas in Pays d’Oc that allows the winemakers at Debussy to produce a versatile range of wines reflective of the region. To introduce this fabulous brand to New Zealanders Black Market has put together a fabulous collection of their Revirei wines for your to enjoy.

The Debussy introduction includes the following wines...

2 x Debussy Reverie Rose 2016 (France)

Awarded 16.5/20 Points: Raymond Chan, May 2018

"This is a light, off-dry rosé. The nose is light and delicate , quite reticent, showing soft and subtle aromas of strawberries and cherries, with hints of pomegranate and quince, unfolding red florals.  The aromas are uncomplicated and gentle.  Off-dry to taste and light-medium bodied, the palate has gently fresh flavours of strawberries and cherries with quince elements and lifted red florals.  A suggestion of savoury bottle development adds detail.  The palate is smooth-flowing with hints of unctuousness and slippery, thirst-quenching acidity carrying the wine to a light, nuanced finish with subtle fruit richness" Raymond Chan, May 2018

"Drinking well right now, this pays d’Oc is pale pink, very fresh and lively. Medium-bodied, with a basically dry feel, it has vibrant strawberry and watermelon flavours, hints of spices, peaches and apricots, and an appetisingly crisp finish. A very harmonious wine, it’s well-priced too" Michael Cooper, June 2018

Salmon pink in the glass with an elegant red fruit nose and aromas of raspberry. Well balanced with a concentrated impression and a fruity finish. The terroir of warmer and matitime location shows in this wines full bodied and rich texture and flavours.

Grown in the Pays d’Oc region of South of France, which benefits from the Mediterranean climate of hot, dry summers for a perfect maturity of the coasline and  humidity and cool temperatures to produce grapes packed with fruity aromas from the Black Mountains. The 100% Grenache for this wine were harvested at night in the lower tempratures to prevent oxidation and then, following to the saignée process, the juices stayed in contact with the skins for a short time before being drained off, so they absorb all the aromas and beautiful colour from the skins. The fermentation was carried out at low temperature to retain the subtle fruit flavours. Then the wine remained on its fine lees for up to two months and is stirred periodically providing a smooth texture.

2 x Debussy Reverie Chardonnay 2016 (France)

Awarded 17.5/20 Points: Raymond Chan, May 2018

"The nose is softly full and well-packed showing plenty of presence of ripe dark-red and black berried fruits and dark plums harmoniously melded with fragrant dark herbs and suggestions of lifted, nutty oak, unveiling some earthy detail providing a little interest.  Medium-bodied, the palate has rich, sweet and juicy flavours of ripe dark-red and black berried fruits with plum notes.  The fruit is succulent and is underlined by light, supple, grainy tannins.  The fruit forms a good core and has mouthfilling presence, with soft acidity enhancing the richness.  The wine carries positively to a plush, weighty finish" Raymond Chan, May 2018

"Fleshy and sweet-fruited, this very easy-drinking pays d’Oc (from the Mediterranean south of France) is bright, light yellow/green, with a fresh, slightly citrusy bouquet.   Mouthfilling and well-rounded, it has ripe, peachy, citrusy, vaguely buttery flavours, showing very good depth" Michael Cooper, June 2018

Golden yellow in the glass, with intense aromas of ripe apple, elegant bourbon vanilla and some toffee notes. Dense on the palate, wonderfully smooth and velvety, subtle spicy notes on the long finish.

Crafted from grapes selected in distinct vineyards from Debussy's best Chardonnay vines. After a short maceration, the crop was gently pressed. Both the vinification and maturing process were carried out under the influence of differently toasted French oak, revealing extraordinary flavours. After the fermentation, the fine yeast was stirred up periodically giving the wine its velvety mouthfeel.

2 x Debussy Reverie Cabernet Syrah 2016 (France)

Awarded 17/20 Points: Raymond Chan, May 2018

"As a drink-young red, this pays d’Oc from the south of France works well.   Full-bodied, it’s a fruit-driven style, with ripe blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, a hint of chocolate, and very satisfying depth" Michael Cooper, June 2018

Deep red in the glass with an intense and complex nose, showing aromas of cassis and violet with an oaky waft. The palate is concentrated and wonderfully smooth with exceptional length.

This wine is a blend of two halves (50% Cabernet, 50% Syrah). These grapes are harvested a full ripeness. As the crop arrived at the Debussy cellar, it was destemmed and crushed in order to extract all the aromatic potential out of the skins. A long fermentation was carried out following the traditional method. Finally, the wine was aged for six months under the influence of French oak, in tanks specially selected by our winemakers.
