Description

"Wonderfully fruited and inviting, the instantly appealing bouquet shows Gala apple, feijoa, kiwifruit and lemon peel characters. The palate is succulent and intensely flavoured with excellent varietal purity and fine texture, brilliantly supported by bright acidity. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2018

Pale green and gold, lemons, crunchy celery, dill, fennel, and a flintiness. A lively, complex version of a classic.

On a list titled ‘Important New Zealand Wines’, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc would be tops, but this Mystery wine maker is not based there so he got a little help form a family who have been growing grapes in Marlborough for over a decade. This Mystery vineyard is bang in the center of the golden circle for growing that type A, quintessential Marlborough style.

This vineyard block is planted on silt over gravel and has plenty of horsepower to ripen Sauvignon Blanc in a way that captures the essence of Marlborough. Cool nights and hot days mean the acid is bright and the aromatics are lifted. Hang time and ripeness mean the flavours are layered and complex.

Fruit was harvested in the cool of the morning and pressed immediately to ensure the juice was as fresh and pristine as possible. The One-Off philosophy is sewn into the making. We’re not following a partic-ular method, just trying to make it unique, so single vineyard, a portion of barrel fermentation, some lees work and natural acid/sugar balance all add to the individuality.
