Description

"Made with 95% grenache, but with input from cabernet sauvignon, shiraz and mataro. It's not far short of perfect; the drinkability factor here is immensely high. Rose petals, cherries and strawberries, ripe but not overtly sweet, with spice and herb notes and - the coup de grace to any attempt at resistance - texture like velvet." James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion

"'One of the Barossa Valley's benchmark Rosés, always with a vintage variable blend of multiple varieties, and here clearly dominant in grenache at 95 percent of the makeup, 3 percent cabernet sauvignon and one percent each of shiraz and mature, together delivering a pale to mid-pink shine, enticing ripe and sticky-toffee-apple characters (without the sweetness), finishing crisply and very faintly off-dry. A perfect aperitif, in other words" Tony Love, The Adelaide Advertiser Taste, September 2016

This 2016 vintage of the Turkey Flat Rosé is sophisticated and generous on the palate. Pale guava in colour with a body full of fresh peach, tangerine peel and a light touch of strawberry. Supple in texture with purity on the finish. Delightful, playful and stunning in the sunshine. Always served chilled.

The records continue to tumble with 2016 knocking off 2015 as having the earliest start to vintage with Marsanne being picked on the 28th of January. A dry winter as well as a warm start to spring brought forward both budburst and flowering delivering a vintage a month ahead of schedule. A hot and dry summer caused varieties and vineyards to ripen collectively. The vineyards inexplicably held together incredibly well 2016. This combined with 30mm of rain in January gave the winery some respite, and allowed the collective quality of 2016 to be very good.

Bucking the notion that Rosé is an afterthought, the ‘Prince of Pink’ has a special place in the winemaker's heart & is crafted with a clear purpose. They create the lifted palate of bright, primary fruits by placing rosey-cheeked Grenache in its starring role. The considered additions of Shiraz, Cabernet & Mataro add tannin and intriguing elements of spice & herbaceousness that have come to be this wine’s distinctive hallmark.

Food Pairing: Friends, under a tree or by the water on a hot, summer’s day. Not summer? Just turn up the heat & serve with Asian or Spanish inspired spicy or seafood dishes.
