2x Echo Hawkes Bay Malbec 2014

AWARDED 90/100: Sam Kim's The Wine Orbit

"This is meaty, spicy and fruity, and offers loads of tasty flavours. Fragrant aromas of dark fruit, black olive, cured meat and floral lead to a succulent palate that is plump and fleshy. The wine shows excellent fruit purity and intensity, and is friendly and very approachable. A wonderful partner to rich meat dishes. At its best: now to 2019." Sam Kim Wine Orbit, Oct 2016.

This elegant wine has exotic aromas of warm summer berries and a hint of toasty spice. The palate is rich with flavours of ripe perfumed blackberries and boysenberries leading to a luscious velvety cocoa texture.

The outstanding fruit was sourced from a single vineyard in winegrowing district of Hawkes Bay  The vineyard site has ideal ripening conditions for achieving the intense aromatics and delicate structure that the Malbec variety can give. Drink now or carefully cellar for up to five years from vintage date.

A perfect match with seared medium-rare rib eye steak.

2x Echo Marlborough Pinot Noir 2014

AWARDED 87/100: Sam Kim's The Wine Orbit

"Flavoursome and silky, this is a superbly priced pinot. Fragrant aromas of dark cherry, mixed spice, smoked meat and nutmeg lead to a juicy palate that is beautifully rounded and silky. The wine shows excellent fruit weight and harmony, as well as typical pinot elegance and finesse. At its best: now to 2017." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, March 2016.

This vibrant Pinot Noir has aromas of bright red berries combined with underlying hints of spice. The palate is fresh and juicy with flavours of ripe black currants, cherries and hints of fresh strawberries. A beautifully balanced wine with subtle oak, fine powdered structure and a long, silky finish.

Fruit from various vineyard sites in Marlborough helps create depth and expression in this wine. Selected yeast strains were used for fermentation and the wine was hand plunged frequently throughout ferment.  The wine was gently pressed off skins, then underwent 100 per cent malolactic fermentation before being blended and gently prepared for bottling.

Works beautifully with lamb rack or roast pork belly and garlic mash.
