Domaine del’Echevin is named after an ancestor and former owner Guillaume de Rouville who was mayor, or Echevin, of Lyon in 1586. Comprising 14.5 hectares of vines overlooking the village of St. Maurice, they grow syrah on north-facing slopes, grenache at the highest point and cinsault, viognier, grenache blanc, marsanne and roussanne (all the whites on north-facing slopes). The average age of the vines is 40 years, and everything is farmed with respect for the environment. The fruit form both estates are vinified in a modern, gravity-fed winery built in 2001.
