Angove Butterfly Ridge Shiraz Cabernet 2016 (Australia)
Description
On the palate the wine shows vibrant mouth-filling fruit with cherry and plum, good length, a touch of wood and a soft full finish. Aromas of red berry fruit and plums with a hint of wood. Vibrant red with some purple hues.
The grapes for this wine were picked at night to ensure that they were as cool as possible. Crushed to modern rotary fermenters the grapes were then allowed to macerate for 2 days before inoculation and fermentation. Pressed off skins 7 days later and allowed to go through the second malolactic fermentation. The wine has then had minimal handling prior to filtration for bottling.
The grapes for this wine were sourced from the Angove family’s own vineyards and premium growers across South Australia. Soils are predominantly red sandy loam over limestone, on gently undulating east west ridges. Every year is a challenge for viticulturists and winemakers who need to deal with the vagaries of mother nature. Fortunately our team have great experience through their work in both warm humid regions and cold wet areas of Australia and Europe.
