"Rich, mellow flagship syrah from a top Hawke’s Bay vintage. Moderately dense, savoury red with high-toned berry fruit flavours together with leather, cinnamon, gunpowder, baked earth and spicy oak characters. Quite a structured wine with potential for further development."  Bob Campbell

"An ultra-bright, intensely aromatic example, which oozes fruitwood smoke, cracked pepper, rose and violet notes alongside an underlying earthy character on the nose.  Flavour-wise it boasts juicy dark fruit, vanilla and cocoa, tannins with grip and chew and a long, warming finish.  It’s an incredibly satisfying drink now, but if you keep it away from your persuasive friends for another year or six you’ll be seriously rewarded" Yvonne Lorkin

Bright, fresh, with pure black fruit and cracked pepper seasoning. Juicy, fresh and mouthwatering.

awarded 95/100 points: Rob Geddes

awarded 92/100 Points: Huon Hooke

awarded 95/100 Points: Jeremy Oliver

"A very elegant wine. The polished seamless aromas show mocha, dark berry fruits, blackberry, and dark chocolate with polish and poise. The palate has the requisite fruit sweetness, dark fruit flavours and oak complexity, balance and fine tannins. The style is earnest and understated, and the polished texture less dependent on ripe swagger than many in the neighbourhood. The innate understanding shows in the refinement across aromas, palate, finish and ageability. Better after 2018" Rob Geddes MW

The palate is full bodied with dark berry conserve flavours and balanced oak, firm tannin and acidity. The wine has persistent length of sweet fruit and oak, with
power, elegance and great finesse. The Aberfeldy is best enjoyed with a range of red meat-based dishes with complementary sauces/gravies. 14.5% alc.

1 x Brookfields ‘Hillside’ Syrah 2015

awarded 5 Stars: Raymond Chan

awarded 5 Stars: Michael Cooper

awarded 5 Stars: The Wine Guy

"Dark, deep, black-hued purple red colour, very youthful in appearance, a little lighter on the rim. This has a well concentrated and firmly packed nose with ripe and exotic fruit aromas of dark-red and black-berried fruits along with a harmoniously entwined array of dark red and violet florals unveiling nuances of Asian spices, black pepper, black minerals and aromatic new, toasty oak. Medium-full bodied, the palate features concentrated, rich and luscious flavours of blackberry fruit with violet floral, black pepper, exotic spice notes and sweet, oak The fruit is underlined by fine-grained tannin extraction that forms a refine core and structure, and the mouthfeel is enriched and enlivened by fresh acidity. This has a long, concentrated and a deep, dense line that carries to a long finish of blackberries, plums and liquorice with exotic spices and new toasty oak lift. This is a rich and concentrated Syrah with exotic black fruits, florals, spices and liquorice on a seriously extracted, fine-grained palate. Serve with slow-cooked game meat over the next 8-10 years. Named after the north-facing hillside vineyard in the Bridge Pa district. A mix of MS and 470 clone fruit destemmed and fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine aged 12 months in predominantly new French and American oak barriques" Raymond Chan

Rich in pepper, black fruits, liquorice, herbs, toasty char, vanilla, coffee and new oak, the 2015 Hillside is vibrant and exciting.. The vineyard site is northerly facing, and the winemaking is tailored to that terroir. The Hillside Syrah is an expression of where it is grown and is best summed up as unique. Past awards for this wine endorse its reputation, and justify its place in your cellar. 14% alc.
