Description

  • American & French oak
  • Plum & raspberry
  • Chocolate & vanilla
  • Supple tannins

Showcasing deep red hues with a black centre. Plum and raspberry with subtle vanilla and chocolate aromas. The palate offers bright, ripe cherries and chocolate that carries through to create a full-bodied wine with soft, supple tannins and a length of red currant sweetness enveloped in toasted mocha oak.

The 2020/2021 growing season in the Barossa began with warm conditions and average rainfall. After two consecutive years of extreme weather conditions at flowering, late spring of 2020 was calm and uneventful. This allowed great fruit set and healthy canopies, carrying slightly above-average crop load. Some well-timed rainfall in late January replenished the soil profile before a cool, dry March allowed slow and steady ripening to assist the development of mature tannins and darkfruited Shiraz.

Fruit was fermented on skins for seven to ten days. Following pressing, clarification and blending, the wine was matured in French and American oak hogsheads for 12 months. Wine parcels possessing soft tannins and bright, solid fruit were scrupulously selected to be included in the Barossan, serving as the best expression of Peter Lehmann Wines’ Barossa Shiraz style.

Founded in 1979, Peter Lehmann Wines brings unmatched diversity, uniqueness and quality from more than 800 hand-tended vineyards across the length and breadth of all 14 Barossa sub-regions. The quality of Peter Lehmann Wines are a testament to our relationships, allowing us access to the region’s finest grapes. Crafted by the current generation of Peter Lehmann winemakers, THE Barossan wines showcase our ability to source superb fruit from the many fabled sub-regions across the Barossa Valley, from a selection of growers renowned for their quality.

Food Pairing: Unashamedly Barossan in style – a red wine that is perfectly suited to accompany quality red meats. Proudly serve alongside a chargrilled steak, roasted beef or robust game like quail. Also makes for a great match with a tasty cheddar or cheese board with friends.
