"Berried Fruit flavour comes attractively spiced, all peppercorn and anise and purple flowers. Its lively, frisky even, but there's enough flavour and it's far more complex then is customarily seen at this price. The length of the palate is noteworthy too. A complimentary blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Shiraz. Shiraz providing structure and body whilst the Pinot contributes a silkiness to the palate and plush bright red fruits. A match made in heaven!
A La Nina season brought much welcomed rain over the winter months and continued in providing a mild spring and summer. The cooler than average weather during harvest resulted in a longer ripening period which facilitated fragrant and elegant fruits in red wines and a seamless acid and tannin balance.
Shiraz and Pinot Noir fruit was processed separately and blended after maturation. Handpicked in the cool of the morning, then destemmed and fermented in open top fermenters for 10 days. Gentle punch downs and pump overs twice daily during fermentation to extract colour and soft tannins, then pressed to old large format French oak barrels where it matured for a minimum of 6 months.
Kindred Spirits was established by friends with a shared interest in creating richly flavoured and varietally expressive wines whilst having a little fun along the way!
