"Richly spicy and savoury, it's complex on the nose showing dried cherry, smoky bacon, tapenade and toasted almond nuances. The palate offers soothing mouthfeel and silky texture, well framed by fine grainy tannins, leading to a lengthy engaging finish" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2022

"This has such terrific refinement and purity. The nose is quite floral with elegant red cherries and strawberries, as well as red flowers and gently sappy grass and light dried, woody notes. The palate is beautifully cut with fine, focused and vibrant tannin, carrying fresh, red-cherry flavor" James Suckling, Oct 2019

Dark ruby-red colour with some depth, and a little lighter on the rim with slight purple hues. The nose is well-concentrated and densely packed with aromas of dark raspberry and red berry fruits entwined with dark herbs, unfolding some earthy detail. Medium-full bodied, the flavours of dark-red berry fruit, raspberries and dark herbs are somewhat restrained, with the unfolding of the mineral detail.

The Pinot Noir is fermented in open top fermenters with indigenous yeast, and it is pumped over for 2-3 minutes a day with no plunging, which is just enough to get gentle extraction. There’s no cold soak but the grapes are picked in the early morning so fermentation takes a while to get going. The pinot is pressed to French oak, 15% new. Generally they show the bright red fruit found in many Pinot Noirs from Marlborough but with the added complexity of savoury, earthy notes and a truly fine textural element.
