Description

  • French oak
  • Dark fruit
  • Cedar & smoke
  • Powerful

"Stylish and elegantly composed, the wine shows blackcurrant, sweet cherry, thyme and roasted nut aromas on the nose. It's splendidly harmonious and structured on the palate with succulent fruit flavours backed by finely infused tannins, finishing persistent and satisfying. At its best: now to 2032" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2023

Dark and brooding nose with dark fruits and spices. Fruit of the forest on the palate with long fine tannins and a hint of cedar and smoke. Powerful, yet elegant, with flavours that linger on the palate.

Grapes were first grown in Te Awanga over 100 years ago. The coastal climate, sea breezes and shallow clay soils com-bine to produce wines of great balance and finesse.

The grapes were destemmed but not crushed, into a mix of open and closed top fermenters. The fruit was fermented with indigenous yeast and spent time resting on skin to reach opti-mum tannin balance. Pressed gently before being aged in French oak (20% new) for 18 months. Bottled without fining in January 2023.

Contains Sulphites.
