Faultline Reserve Hawke's Bay Cabernet Franc 2021
Description
- Ripe berry fruit
- Dark chocolate
- Full-bodied
- Toasty finish
An aromatic blend of green peppercorn and chocolate laced with ripe berry fruits. A full bodied and complex palate displaying flavours of black cherry and dark chocolate with a touch of green chilli. Focused with a cocoa powder like tannin structure and a long toasty finish. Perfect for drinking immediately this wine will continue to mature and delight for at least five years from vintage. After this time, it will further develop with careful cellaring.
The outstanding fruit was sourced from a single vineyard in the wine growing district of Hawke’s Bay. The vigour moderating, free draining gravel provides a superb base for this low cropping Cabernet Franc. This vineyard site has ideal ripening conditions for achieving the intense aromatics and delicate structure that Cabernet Franc can give.

Loved it, don't see too many cab francs at a very good price. Easy to drink. Highly recommended. Good value. ?? always enjoy the wines from Faultline.

I erred when I reviewed the mixed case-this is so much better than the other two and I classified them together. I immediately bought another case of the c. franc

bought the mixed 6 and this was by far the best so have ordered 6 of the Cabernet Franc, delicously smooth

Excellent value for money on the current promotional price of 12.99/bottle. A very good wine. If Blackmarket's star rating system could allow us to separate the value-for-money from the quality-of-wine then at that price I'd give it 5 for value and 4 for quality. The wine has varietally-correct ripely herbaceous flavours of blackberry bush with chocolate notes towards the medium finish. No, that's not code for kiwi green, this is a fully ripe wine, it's just the character of the grape variety. For comparison, slightly denser, riper, and richer than the Paritua Stone Paddock CF 2017/2020, but not the complexity, depth, and length of flavour of Beach House CF from a good year. Those comparisons are just of the wines themselves, not their prices.
