"Dark-berry, black-chocolate and tar aromas follow through to a medium to full body with juicy fruit, as well as asphalt and burnt-orange undertones. Drink or hold" James Suckling, Apr 2021

"La Mascota 2020 Malbec is produced from sustainably-grown grapes and is a great value Argentinian Malbec. Love the texture and layers of juicy, ripe plum, blackberry, black cherry, dark chocolate, roasted herbs, smoky vanilla and toasty oak spice flavours on this fresh, smooth and medium-plus-bodied Malbec. Finishes with a mouthful of dark berry fruit and on a citrus note. Drink or hold. Malbec food pairings: pepper-crusted steak, wild mushrooms, steak fajitas, meat fondue, bittersweet chocolate" Natalie MacLean, Nov 2021

This lovely Malbec boasts an instense purple red colour in the glass with ruby hues. The bouquet is filled with aromas of black fruits, jam and vanilla, with a subtle licorice touch. Sweet attack and full bodied tannins with a long and pleasant finish.

The La Mascota vineyard is located in Mendoza's first viticultural region, Cruz de Piedra, Maipu, one of the finest areas for grape-growing in Argentina. The vineyard is placed at the foothills of Los Andes, about 1 km away from the Mendoza River. It is influenced periodically by cool breezes coming from both the mountains and the river. These combined factors affect the microclimate, allowing for a wide temperature range between day and night. The soils here are predominantly alluvial, with loamy topsoil and rocks below a depth of 60 cm.

Hand harvested in plastic bins. The grapes were then destemmed and crushed. With Fermantation and maceration taking place in steel tanks during a minimum of 25 days at 23-25 C. The wine was aged for 15 months in new French and American oak barrels, before being filtered and bottled.

Food Pairing: Ideal to match with grilled meats or strong cheeses.
