"Strongly varietal cabernet sauvignon with cedar, cassis, black berry, black olive and spicy oak flavours. A firmly-structured wine with obvious cellaring potential. Taut and elegant with a lengthy finish" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Feb 2020

"Medium deep crimson, Attractive pure blackcurrant mulberry violet aromas with herb garden/ sage notes. Inky cassis mulberry fruits, fine supple al-dente tannins, roasted chestnut vanilla notes, Finishes slinky firm with dried roses leafy notes. Very expressive interesting wine" Andrew Caillard

"An exacting bouquet of Cabernet with aromas of violets and blackberry, cigar box and baked bell-pepper, dark plums and clove. On the palate - full-bodied, firm and dry with contrasting core of fruit, medium+ acidity and flavours of box-wood, bell-pepper and blackberry. Quite complex with a lengthy finish. Tannins are firm, in abundance and youthful. Well made yet needing cellar time with a very nice varietal focus and youthful appeal. Decant for service with best drinking from 2022 through 2028+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

"The youthful 2018 vintage (4.5*) is a single-vineyard, organically certified red, matured for 18 months in French oak barrels. Deeply coloured, it is medium to full-bodied, with good concentration of blackcurrant, plum and spice flavours, finely integrated oak and obvious potential; open 2023+. This wine is a Potential Classic" Michael Cooper

A deep ruby red colour. A varietal bouquet with dense black fruit and cigar box notes. Blackcurrant and blackberry flavours carry through to the palate, together with spicy notes and plenty of tannin.

Flowering was good, and we were not affected by any frosts in 2018. Spring and early summer were warm and mid-summer Hawke’s Bay experienced very warm weather with hot, dry conditions. In March there was some unsettled weather which meant picking before and after the rains and decisions about whether to risk leaving fruit out longer or not. Overall it was an excellent vintage.

In 2013 we purchased a vineyard at the end of Mere Road; our Corner Vineyard. Since then we have been making a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from that vineyard. The Cabernet Sauvignon vines were planted in 2000 and 2001.

Fermented in open-top stainless steel fermenters. Hand plunged two times daily. Post fermentation soak for two to three weeks followed by maturation in barrel. Matured in seasoned French oak barriques for 20 months.
