  • Ripe berries
  • Watermelon & vanilla
  • Juicy acidity

"Offering splendid fruit purity and elegant perfume, the wine shows nectarine, lemon peel, watermelon and white floral aromas. It's finely expressed on the palate with fabulous flow and focus, backed by juicy acidity, finishing long and comforting. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jun 2021

The smell of summer in a glass: loads of ripe raspberries, strawberries, watermelon and nectarines sit alongside yummy hints of vanilla and peach melba yoghurt. This dry Rosé is packed with flavour and the delicious juicy acidity and lingering finish make this an ideal summer’s day sipper and will leave you reaching for another glass. Serve chilled.

Merlot grapes for this wine come from silt/clay loam soils in the beautiful Patutahi Valley in Gisborne - the first wine region in New Zealand to see the rising sun each morning.

The 2021 season got off to a cracking start with a warm spring causing both bud burst and flowering earlier than normal for both varieties. From Christmas onwards conditions reverted to a more usual pattern with sunny, dry weather causing the grapes to start to race towards harvest. However the prolonged dry conditions limited berry expansion, so at harvest we had very clean small berries but also some of the lowest harvest bunch weights since 2007. Merlot grapes for The Jules Rosé were picked on 17th March, similar to last year, Without exception, all vineyards were disease-free and had great fruit concentration. We just wish there were more to go round!

It was an early morning start for The Jules Rosé harvest. Bunches of merlot were picked in the first hours of daylight so that the grapes would stay fresh and flavour-packed in the cooler morning temperatures. Once at the winery, the grapes were crushed and pressed immediately. Jules then gently pressed it off the skins and kicked off the fermentation with an aromatic yeast. Temperatures were kept cool to preserve the delicate aromas. At the end of fermentation, the wine was stabilized and given a light filtration to preserve the beautiful pink hue and sealed with a screw cap for maximum flavour and freshness!

Food Pairing: Perfect for hot weather drinking, this wine is a great match for tasty summer salads - try it with a plate of fresh tomatoes and basil drizzled with olive oil, or with a platter of cured meats and antipasti. For something a little more substantial, try it served with pulled pork buns and a tasty watermelon or pineapple salsa.
