"Intense, medium-dry gewürztraminer with restrained yet luscious Turkish Delight, white rose petal, potpourri and lychee flavours. A benchmark wine" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Dec 2020
"Seductive and complex bouquet with fragrant spices, forest flowers, sweet scented white fleshed fruits, caramelised citrus, apple then honeysuckle. Weighty, fleshy, silky and delicious on the palate. Finesse and charm, mouthfeel a fresh. Well-made and ready from today and through 2025+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Oct 2020
The nose is wonderfully pronounced and complex with a beguiling blend of exotic spice and lychee, mango, citrus and orange marmalade. The palate is rich, round and full-bodied with a lovely intensity and balanced with a gentle citrus acidity. The flavours echo the aromas, clinging to the mouth and finishing with a gentle sweetness. A highly memorable wine.
From around the Lawson’s Winery where the oldest vines were planted in the early 80s. These unirrigated vines are deeply rooted in clay soils which help to give the wine intensity, weight and body.
These grapes were harvested in perfected condition in the middle of a wonderfully warm harvest. They were gently crushed and pressed to French barriques and allowed to undergo spontaneous fermentation with yeasts that were naturally present. The wine was left to rest on lees for several
months before bottling here at the winery later in the year. 100% Gewürztraminer, Alc 13.5%, pH 3.7, TA 4.3, RS 14 Vegan Friendly
This stunning example of Gewurztraminer shows its true colours at this young age but will also reward time in the bottle. Enjoy over the next five years.
Food Pairing: Salmon, spicy dishes, coconut-based curries, patés and terrines, sweeter vegetables such as pumpkin and kumara, +strong flavoured, soft, ripe, white cheeses.
