Description

  • American & French oak
  • Chocholate & spice notes
  • Dark berry fruit
  • Softly coating tannins

"Bright and fresh yet rich and brooding, Faith is the hallowed product of beloved old Barossan vines. Red fruit, plums and dark berries combine amid the generous and complex palate. Pepper spice combines with baking spice complimenting the ripe fruit and rich tannins. Unashamedly Barossa and justifiably proud" Cuisine Magazine

Lifted with bright yet dark cherry fruit characters, a hint of chocolate with enticing spice notes. Dark berry fruits and a soft and luscious palate are the hallmark characters of this wine. Pepper spices and chocolate notes marry together with softly coating tannins to complete this rich and generous palate.

Red brown loam over shale and red clay vineyards in the South and Central Barossa Valley enable winemakers to create wine parcels of generosity of flavour, length and texture.

Good winter rains in July and August preceded a warm and dry spring with no frosts or storms. Budburst and shoot growth were strong with average bunch numbers showing across most varieties, followed by ideal weather through flowering which set up good crop potential. Ripening was very steadily paced throughout which made for an accommodating vintage. Barossa Valley Shiraz yields were slightly higher than average, and all the wines show intense colour and flavour with robust tannins.

The St Hallett winemaking philosophy is relatively simple minimum intervention and maximum attention. All Shiraz vineyards are crushed and fermented separately. The Shiraz vineyards destined for this wine were fermented between 6 and 8 days at 22 to 24 degrees. Post fermentation the wine was matured in American and French Oak for 9 months before being blended and bottled.

With every vintage our winemaking team learn more about the influence of the site on the flavor and quality of the wines. This is the Shiraz which starts it all for many St Hallett lovers. Our Faith Shiraz is a vibrant and expressive example of Barossa Shiraz. An accessible, juicy and fruit driven wine, Faith's vibrant yet dense purple hue hints at the generosity of fruit within.

Great wine for all those family/ non special occasions like when you are drinking on you own.

I decided to purchase this wine rather than the Gamekeeper line. While the wine is very drinkable is it worth the extra. I guess I’ll need to buy that as well!
