Description

"This is gorgeously matured, offering lifted aromas of lemon curd, rockmelon, fig and spice on the nose, leading to a succulent palate that is juicy and flavoursome. The wine offers terrific fruit intensity backed by fine texture and refreshing acidity, finishing delightfully long and appealing. Style: Dry. At its best: now to 2021" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jul 2019

A bright, floral perfumed aroma intertwined with lemon and lime is accentuated by attractive apricot nuances. The palate is light and crisp showing juicy grapefruit and mandarin flavours with a hint of ginger spice. This concentrated wine shows excellent fruit sweetness, subtle mineral notes, well balanced acidity, and a smooth oily textural finish.

This Mystery Riesling is a from a blend of vineyards in the Awatere and Wairau valleys offering a variety of mesoclimates, from a combination of soil types ranging from deep clay slopes to old riverbed silty, stony gravels.

The climate in Marlborough has high sunshine hours, but temperatures during the growing season are regulated by the cooling ocean influence. In 2014, Marlborough had a warmer than usual spring, followed by a temperate summer. All Riesling grapes were machine harvested between early March until mid April in cool autumn conditions.

The grapes for this Mystery wine were machine harvested and destemmed in the vineyard during cool conditions to retain aromatics. Carefully selected cultured aromatic yeast. Cool, slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks to retain distinctive regional and varietal characteristics.

Food Pairing: Great as an aperitif or with light, fresh dishes such as fresh seafood, smoked chicken & rocket salad or lightly spiced Asian cuisine.
