Description
The Duchesse De Berry, a member of the French royal family, lived for many years in Bordeaux where she used to welcome her guests with the best local produce. Today this tradition is carried on by 'Duchess de Berry', which remains one of the most welcoming of wines from Bordeaux. If you've ever thought clarets were a bit stand-offish, we guarantee this gorgeous Gold medal claret will convert you. Ripe, velvety and brimful of plum and cassis, it's a very moreish Bordeaux that is ready to drink tonight!
Banished are the days of claret that had to be stored for decades to be drinkable (though of course the top flight, high priced ones do reward the wait). Instead, Bordeaux is producing some of the most appealing and well balanced reds of France. This is an all-Merlot red from an immaculate, well-run co-operative in the Entre Deux Mers. Growers are passionate about the grapes they bring in and you can taste that in the bright fruit intensity of this wine. 2017 was a good vintage for the region, so we were delighted to be able to secure this beauty, and at such a steal of a price.
Food Pairing: Elegant and full of fresh red fruit, serve with white meats, roasted vegetable with couscous - it's a most versatile red.
