Description

"Fresh and delicately lifted, the bouquet shows rockmelon, golden peach, pear and floral characters. The palate is succulent and fleshy, delivering attractive fruit intensity and fine texture, wonderfully supported by juicy acidity. It is elegant yet flavoursome, offering fabulous drinking" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Apr 2018

"Creamy, fleshy Pinot Gris with tree fruit, pear, quince and spice flavours, with a tiny stab of alcohol bitterness on the finish. A dry wine with appealing purity and a lingering finish" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, May 2019

An enticing nose reminiscent of apple strudel, caramelized pear and stone fruits. Some spicy, smoky mineral notes add complexity to this Pinot Gris. A rich palate, with classic stone fruit notes, accompanied by baked apple, quince and custard flavours. Excellent weight, a bold mouth filling texture and a touch of stony minerality completes the picture.

The Ribbonwood 2016 Marlborough Pinot Gris is made from fruit sourced from a mixture of sub regions and soil types in, which include; the stony, ex-river bed soils of the Rapaura and the heavier and more clay rich loam of the Southern Valleys. Each component brings something different to the wine. Richness, texture and weight are as important as fruit expression with this wine.

Food Pairing: Ribbonwood Marlborough Pinot Gris pairs well with flavoursome white meats such as pork and chicken as well as creamy pasta dishes. Alternatively, try with meaty fish such as Hapuku, Bluenose or Salmon.

Lovely wine, dry and refreshing. Doesn't kept well once opened so it needs to be finished the same day as opening. Tough I know :-)
