Description
"Very pale, candy-floss-peach colour, lighter on the edge. The nose is fresh and thirst-quenching with tightly bound aromas of strawberries, cherries and quince along with subtle mineral elements, unfolding some lifted red florals. The aromatics show good depth. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has flavours of strawberries, cherries and savoury quince, along with soft nutty elements, with brisk, lively acidity refreshing the mouthfeel. The palate is lively with the sweet and savoury flavours forming a firm core and line, and the wine carries to a lingering finish. This is a dry rosé in the southern French style with sweet and savoury fruit on a refreshing and long finish. Serve with antipasto and tapas over the next 2 years. Pinot Noir fruit from the Awatere and Wairau Valleys fermented to 12.5% alc. and 3 g/L RS, the wine aged 8 months on light lees" Raymond Chan, Sep 2018
"Fresh and charming, the elegantly lifted bouquet shows nectarine, rockmelon, lemon zest and floral characters with a touch of strawberry. The palate is juicy and vibrant, delivering delicate fruit intensity and fine texture, leading to a lingering, delightfully dry finish. Mouth-watering and very appealing. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2018
An attractive, fresh and stylish New Zealand Rosé full of heirloom rose petals, cranberry and peach aromas. Elegant and well-balanced, this wine shows undertones of raspberry, nectarine and salinity notes which lead to a dry, silky finish.
Black Cottage Rosé was inspired by David’s long stint working in Corsica and the South of France crafting fresh, crisp, dry, salmon pink rosé. From a difficult growing season with continued cloud cover in summer and persistent rain during harvest, we escaped lightly, producing wines with good acidity and flavour. Treated very much as a white wine in the cellar, this wine had the added benefit of 8 weeks on light yest lees, increasing the texture and mineral notes. Best drnk this year (2017) or next.
Food Pairing: A great match with seafood, especially crayfish and as an aperitif.
