Bordeaux produced lovely, fruit forward wines in 2016. Just take this velvety, plum rich claret from the team at Château Haut Pougnan, beautifully situated in the Entre Deux Mers in Bordeaux.  This delivers amazing value for money. Merlot dominates this up front with Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc giving support. There is plenty of ripe cassis and black cherry fruit practically leaping from the glass in this greatly enjoyable, approachable wine.  It has won an amazing 6 Gold medals to boot!

AWARDED GOLD MEDAL: Brignoles Wine Fair 2018

A mouthfilling, richly spiced red with an illustrious, medal winning history, Cabalié needs no Terrasse du Frigoulet. Just large glasses for serving! It’s a Grenache charged red from very old Languedoc vines, so has gorgeous spicy berry fruit in abundance.

This Syrah offers as sweetly perfumed nose that displays dark plum notes. Game, vanilla and roasted nut characters then lead to a succulent palate that is beautifully fruited and smooth. This is upfront and tasty with plenty of ripe fruit flavours and subtle savoury notes.
