In this range babich produces a style that not only expresses the terroir but is also exceptionally drinkable....

2 x Babich Hawkes Bay Syrah 2018

Aromas of dark plum, cherry, and boysenberry with vanilla. Medium weight and supple with a sweet fruited entry of raspberry and blackberry. Savoury leather and dried herbs join on the mid-palate and spice notes linger.

The grapes were harvested from our Hawke’s Bay vineyards and gently crushed into stainless steel tanks for fermentation. Vigorous cap management during the height of ferment ensured good extraction of colour and tannin. After extended time on skins to promote tannin evolution, the wine was then run off to French oak. It matured for eleven months prior to blending.

Food Pairing: Makes an ideal partner to strongly flavoured foods such as balsamic marinated steak or an antipasto platter of salami, artichokes, olives and sun dried tomatoes

Seal: Screw Cap - Alc: 12.5%

2 x Babich Hawkes Bay Merlot Cabernet 2017

Deeply coloured, with berry, plum and a touch of anise with a  well rounded finish.

Specially selected from our estate owned vineyards throughout the Hawke’s Bay region, winemakers combine soft Merlot with robust Cabernet Sauvignon resulting in a full flavoured dry red with easy drinking appeal.

Food Pairing: This Merlot Cabernet is an ideal partner for an antipasto platter featuring a range of salamis and smoked meats; or any meaty casserole, such as lamb shanks.

Seal: Screw Cap - Alc: 12.5%

2 x Babich Marlborough Pinot Noir 2017

AWARDED 16.5/20 POINTS: Raymond Chan, Apr 2018

AWARDED 90/100 POINTS & TOP 100 Value Wines 2017: MaryAnn Worobiec, Wine Spectator, Jul 2017

AWARDED SILVER MEDAL: New Zealand International Wine Show, Sep 2017

"The nose is moderately deep with fresh and fragrant aromas of red cherry and raspberry fruit along with herbal nuances and a little red floral lift. This is bright and primary in expression, with unfolding nutty oak elements with aeration. Medium-bodied, the palate is bright, vibrant and juicy. The fruit and mouthfeel is enlivened by refreshing, lacy acidity with very light tannin extraction. The fruit has good vitality and the wine carries to a juicy, aromatic finish" Raymond Chan, Apr 2018

"Perfumed, with dried lavender and Earl Grey tea details that highlight the charm of this wine. Cranberry and raspberry notes linger on a silky frame. Drink now through 2027" MaryAnn Worobiec, Wine Spectator, Jul 2017

This wine is a blend of various parcels of fruit from the extensive Babich vineyards in Marlborough. After an extended period of maceration the various batches were drained off skins and portions put into new and old oak barriques. Showing smoky dark fruit aromas with nutmeg. An early hit of strawberry and plum mix with bramble/raspberry notes. The mid-palate introduces dried herbs and earth with a touch of caramel. Supple with good volume and persistence.

Food Pairing: It goes well with a stir-fry of cubed lamb and eggplant, also makes a good partner for a steak and mushroom pie.

Loved having the variety. All great wines. Perfect when there are only 1 or 2 wine drinkers in the house and you don’t want a few boxes of wine at once yet want a change in wine.
