Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2018

'It is elegantly fragrant on the nose showing apricot, rockmelon, lemon peel and subtle vanilla characters. The palate is succulent and nicely rounded with pristine fruit flavours backed by creamy mouthfeel and refreshing acidity. The wine offers lovely balance and harmony, finishing long and silky. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2018

Lightly oaked, this fruit driven wine has layers of citrus and stone fruit flavours. The oak characters are subtle, adding interest without dominating, fine acidity adds length and balance.

This Mystery Chardonnay is grown on a variety of soil types in the Hawkes Bay area, including gravels, silt and clay loam. The different characteristics of the sites provides this Mystery wine with depth of character and complexity of the flavour. In the winery after the being harvested at optimum ripeness, grapes were destemmed and gently presssed. Cool ferment tempratures were then employed to retain the fruit's aromatics and flavour. A small portion of the blend was aged in French oak barriques. 50% underwent a malolactic fermentation to introduce some creaminess and complexity.

Food Pairing: Delicious with risotto, fresh pasta or seafood.

Fantastic value for money

Easy everyday drinking. Great value for the discount, but would have found wine disappointing if I paid full price. Soft flavours for a chardonnay.

Far better than was expected, I would rate this Chardonnay as the perfect drop for summer. Very fresh and a sweet citrus taste.

not bad
