Whalebone Bay is a colloquial term given to the shores of Port Underwood in Marlborough, that are littered with old whalebone remnants. It was here in the mid -1800s that whaling was in full swing. The pioneering spirit and uncompromising attitude of these people is reflected today by the dedication of Marlborough grape growers to producing top quality fruit.
The fruit for this Whalebone Bay Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from carefully selected vineyard sites within Marlborough. It’s a lively, fresh wine with a lifted nose of blackcurrant budpassionfruit and citrus blossom. The palate displays flavours of freshly cut capsicum, passionfruit and fresh stonefruit. Subtle herbaceous notes add complexity and the finish is clean and crisp. Recommended for drinking now or over the next 1-2 years.
