Description

"Delightfully ripe and immediately enticing, the wine shows dark cherry, game, thyme, toasted almond and fragrant spice aromas on the nose. The palate is equally satisfying with supple texture backed by finely infused tannins, finishing splendidly long and delectable. At its best: now to 2029" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2024

"Moderately deep crimson, lighter on the rim. The nose is delicate and pretty, with aromas of cranberry, red cherry and raspberry, along with herbs, sweet floral and subtle spices. Medium-bodied, aromas of cranberry, red cherry and raspberry entwined with thyme, basil, black pepper, cinnamon and dried hibiscus. Supple, velvety tannins lightly frame the creamy mouthfeel; lacy acidity embraces the delicate fruit and floral and lingers to a harmonious closing. An approachable expression exhibits poise and dainty aromatics" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Aug 2024

"A lighter weighted wine with a core of pinosity and generosity, flavours of red berries then some plum and raspberry scents. Fine tannins and acidity secure a decent structure ushering in flavours of berries and plum to reflect the bouquet. Balanced and well made, a wine for immediate drinking as well as some ageing potential. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2030+. Or cellar through 2027 then continue drinking" Camreon Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2024

We believe in connections at Te Kano. Between wine and food, grape vines and the soil, people and nature. Our Estate vineyards are testament to this, with organic practices and an extensive Kowhai rejuvenation project strengthening our links with the land we love.

Kin is a deliciously vibrant wine made to enliven any gatherings of family and friends. A complex Pinot Noir with aromas of red berry, black cherry, plum and spice, Cherry and red berry fruits and savoury dried herb nuances lead the entry to the palate, with sinewy and textural tannins bulding towards a long and supple finish.

A subregional Central Otago blend including fruit from our Estate vineyards in Bannockburn and Northburn.

The 2024 season started with warm and wet weather, leading vine health. Windy weather over flowering and a warm late summer period resulted in lower yields with excellent flavour concentration.

Vineyard parcels were individually hand harvested and destemmed to open top fermenters. Gentle hand plunging over a period of 10-22 days ensured the extraction of fine delicate tannins while retaining Central Otagos signature brightness and juicy fruit flavours.
