Description

  • Red cherry
  • Alomnd & spice
  • Silky & succulent
  • Soft tannins

"Beautifully styled and elegantly expressed, the wine shows red plum, cherry, subtle spice and almond notes on the nose, leading to a succulent palate offering silky texture backed by finely infused tannins. Delightfully rounded and lingering. At its best: now to 2027" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2023

Dark ruby red appearance with an inviting bouquet of red cherry, strawberry, hints of spice and dried herbs. The wine is soft and juicy on the palate with red fruit characters and spicy notes in the background. Soft rounded tannins and ripe fruit follows to a smooth elegant finish giving the wine length and poise.

We select our grapes from vineyards across Martinborough that deliver lusciously ripe, juicy grapes. Long ago this land, like much of the region, was covered in scrub but thanks to the back-breaking work of men known at the time as swaggers, the land was cleared and prepared for use.

Martinborough is a sub-region in the center of Wairarapa, at the southern tip of New Zealand’s North Island. A rural area with dramatic cliffs carved out by the Ruamahanga River over thousands of years outline the flat plains. It's warm summers, chilly winters, dry climate and mineral-laden rocky soils make it a premier location for growing some of the world’s best Pinot Noir.

Russian Jack is a Kiwi Legend. Originally from Latvia, his thick accent earned him the nickname ‘Russian Jack’ when he arrived in New Zealand in 1912. He spent most of his life travelling the country on foot picking fruit, clearing scrub and befriending locals. He was honoured with a bronze statue after his death in 1968. Russian Jack wines are an ode to the hard work of ‘swaggers’ like him who we have to thank for some of our great vineyards today.
